Celebrating 40 years of Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services in the NT

Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services in the NT celebrated Aboriginal Medical Services Alliance NT (AMSANT) 20th Anniversary at the Our Health, Our Way Conference on 5 and 6 November 2014. The Central Australia Aboriginal Congress also celebrated its 40th Anniversary at the conference. The Our Health Our Way Conference brought together Aboriginal health leaders, health service managers, clinicians and other health service staff along with researchers, policy makers and government representatives from the NT and across the nation.  The Conference discussed the achievements and successes of the Aboriginal Community Controlled Health sector in the Northern Territory and the future development of Aboriginal primary health care. The Conference provided an opportunity to showcase the difference being made in Aboriginal health by AMSANT members. RAHC proudly sponsored former RAHC Board member Pat Anderson who was a key note speaker and was acknowledged as a key player in AMSANT’s inception 20 years ago.  Some of the RAHC team including Philip Roberts (General Manager), Fiona Wake (Clinical Manager), Genevieve Lewis (Clinical Coordinator) and Lisa White (Regional Coordinator) attended the 20th Anniversary dinner.
