CommDoc: The new app helping health professionals and patients break language barriers in the Northern Territory

The Northern Territory General Practice Education (NTGPE) in consultation with clinics, communities, doctors, cultural educators and interpreter services has developed CommDoc. This new app is designed to facilitate more effective communication between patients and health professionals. CommDoc provides audio translations of common medical terms and phrases used by health professionals. These medical terms and phrases have been translated into a number of different Aboriginal languages spoken across the Territory. CommDoc is simple and easy to use with the common terms and phrases split into four sections: Common terms, History, Examination and Body parts, making life easier for both health professionals and patients.

The CommDoc app also features a useful map of the language groups in the Northern Territory. CommDoc is available on the App Store and Google Play.
