RAHC has developed a suite of free online clinical training modules designed especially for health professionals as a resource to provide timely, high quality, orientation and learning materials for RAHC health professionals preparing to work in remote health clinics and services.

Each month RAHC will profile one of the eLearning Modules, today is the Managing Scabies and Crusted Scabies module.

Managing Scabies and Crusted Scabies

RAHC developed this module in partnership with One Disease. It has been developed to assist health professionals to recognise the signs and symptoms of scabies, crusted scabies and skin sores, to know the mite and the epidemiology of scabies, and to understand best-practice treatment and management.

The module provides an overview of the key elements involved in managing scabies for health professionals delivering primary healthcare to clients, particularly Indigenous clients living in remote communities in the Northern Territory. The module draws on clinical practice guidelines, research and other resources to assist the health professional to become better acquainted with the diagnosis and treatment options for scabies and crusted scabies.

The Managing Scabies and Crusted Scabies module is endorsed for Continuing Professional Development (CPD) points with RACGP, ACRRM, APNA, ACD and ASHM.
