Introducing Remote Educator - Elly Fontes
For a number of years, Elly has predominantly worked in the Northern Territory Top End as a locum Remote Area Nurse (RAN) and Midwife. Elly’s clinical background includes aeromedical nursing, midwifery, critical care, hyperbaric and emergency nursing in various locations around Australia. She maintains her clinical and educator skills as a facilitator for CRANAPlus courses.
Elly enjoys the job satisfaction and challenges that remote nursing can offer. Remote work is not always easy and at times frustrating but the rewards are great both professionally and personally. She has enjoyed working in a unique cross cultural setting.
“…I’m passionate about ensuring that new-to-remote health professionals don’t get dumped in the deep end and are expected to cope…we need to support each other- especially in a remote location. I’m more than happy to share my experience and knowledge and I’m always learning from others”.
RAHC Remote Educators (REs) provide support to health professionals (HPs) on their first RAHC placement. This support is to assist the HP with the transition to the remote environment both clinically and culturally.
