Top 3 ideas to maximise your downtime whilst on placement

When preparing for a placement with us you may find yourself wondering what to do with your downtime in remote locations,  and to help you we have come up with our top three ideas how to maximise your down-time.

1.       Detox from technology

Turn off that phone, shut down the emails and turn off the TV to experience the best that the Northern Territory has to offer. Immerse yourself in the glorious sunsets, the Indigenous culture, the sounds of the native animals and smells of the bush.

Free yourself.

2.       Bring a hobby

Whether you like to sew, knit, draw, read – now is the perfect chance to get all that ‘me’ time in when you don’t always have the opportunity at home. Or even better, what a great time to start one.

3.       Learn about the community from the community

If you are ready, the communities are often willing to share their history and culture with those who visit. We’ve had our health professionals learn how to cook damper on a camp fire or even start to learn one of the hundreds of dialects whilst on placement.
