When preparing to go on placement, the appropriate dress code must be considered in order to demonstrate cultural sensitivity and understanding.
The community may have certain expectations about the way you dress, particularly to reflect the role you play within the community. Dress code is particularly important when meeting or treating older members of the community and whilst treating members of the opposite sex.
So what is acceptable?
Some examples of acceptable dress code are:
- skirts and dresses below the knee
- blouses, shirts and tops with sleeves
- loose trousers
- loose-fitting uniform
- comfortable, enclosed shoes.
