Media Release - Australia's first package for Indigenous eye health

The University of Melbourne has issued a media release with regard to the launch of the Eye Health and Diabetes eye health eLearning modules in Alice Springs on May 29, 2014. The module was developed by the Indigenous Eye Health Unit (IEHU) and the University of Melbourne and Remote Area Health Corps (RAHC) with financial support from the Aspen Foundation.

Remote Educator update - 60 supported placements

Incident reporting

Your safety and wellbeing and that of your clients are of the utmost importance to RAHC. Please remember that if an incident occurs while on placement, you are required to follow the policy of the Health Service and complete the appropriate documentation. You must also inform RAHC.

Media Release - Pioneering healthcare partnership is a win-win for the NT and VIC

Media Release - RAHC has launched a pioneering partnership with Victoria’s Western Health that will see five senior Western Hospital Emergency Department nurses embark on exciting placements to the Northern Territory. This is the first formal partnership between RAHC and another health service to provide health professionals to the Northern Territory.

NHPA report released on immunisation rates for children

The National Health Performance Authority (NHPA) has released a report titled ‘Healthy Communities: Immunisation rates for children 2012-13’ and it is now available for download. While the report discusses immunisation rates of all children in Australia, there are several sections specifically covering Indigenous children and the Northern Territory.

Revised AHPRA policy on social media usage

The Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) has released revised guidelines, code-of-conduct and policy on appropriate use of social media by Health Professionals. RAHC Health Professionals (HPs) are encouraged to familiarise themselves with these documents in addition to RAHC policies and the RAHC Code of Conduct.
